The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a pastor, Abraham Sunday, for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl, Kike (pseudonym) in Adalemo Estate, in the Toll Gate area, on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.PUNCH Metro learnt that Sunday, the pastor of Christ In All Nations Church in Adalemo, was arrested by the Ojokoro Police Division last Wednesday, September 2, from where he was taken to the Department of Criminal Investigation, Yaba.

I was having my lunch in a restaurant in Accra this afternoon, when A friend started a discussion of what some of our female Nigerian students in Ghana have turned themselves into. I could not agree more. While the parents spend lots of money to ensure their daughters are comfortable and graduate with flying colours, their children have a different agenda.
There was this particular case of a young girl whose mother rented a 2-bedroom flat for her in Accra. My friend,said news just got to him this week, that this student slept with 5(five) guys at the same time and was still begging for more. She is always high on hard drugs. And, the mother, back in Nigeria will be boasting of her daughter, who is studying in Ghana. Oh, so pathetic.
Sadly to say, many of these young girls have become international prostitutes and seriously hooked on drugs. I mean what I am saying. And many people in Accra can bear me witness. Some of the mushroom universities attended by the students lack hostel facilities and the students are forced to rent accomodation thereby according them too much privacy which they are not matured enough to handle.
This issues also involves our boys. Some have become drug addicts, school dropouts and they still collect school fees from their parents.
Parents need to pay regular unexpected visit to their children and monitor them via phone calls at odd hours to find out where they are and what they are up to. If you a parent, you must never cease to pray for your children. And, if you are not sure of child’s behaviour, keep him or her close to you

Nigerian Troops Kill More Boko Haram Members, Rescue 210 Hostages
Nigerian troops on Wednesday killed 5 Boko Haram terrorists and rescued 210 civilians held captive by the terrorist group.This was revealed by the acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel S.K. Usman.
According to him,the insurgents were killed at Furkati village, which is located in Geidam a Local Government Area (LGA) of Yobe State while the rescue of the 210 civilians was due to an information received by soldiers that the terrorists were holding hostage the inhabitants of the villages of Ejilije, Bulagaije-lari, Bulagaije-Adamde, and Ajiri.Speaking further,he said the terrorists fled these villages once they learnt the Nigerian military was advancing upon them.
The rescued citizens were mainly women,children, and the elderly and have since been transferred to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps. According to Colonel Usman, the insurgents planned using the civilians as “human shields” in the event of a military offensive against them.
4 Dane guns, 4 loaded magazines of G3 riflesan unknown quantity of 7.62mm ammunition,1 Machine Gun barrel, 4 empty canisters of Mortar bombs, a bandolier, and 4 AK-47 rifles were recovered from the insurgents during the operations.

Police Begins Prosecution of 137 Pro-Biafran Protesters
As pro-Biafran protests continue to swell in some parts of the South-east, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase has disclosed that no fewer than 137 of such protesters have been arrested and currently undergoing prosecution. The police boss spoke on Wednesday when he visited the Ministry of Interior. According to him, the suspects are all members of the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Arase who also described Nigerians as lawless, however said inasmuch as the government respects the right of citizens to free expression, the MASSOB and IPOB activists must stop threatening public peace or face the full wrath of the law.
What I can assure you is that we will not allow any group to disturb the peace of this country. We will clamp down on them, we will deal with them, we will prosecute them. Already, we have about 137 of them who are undergoing prosecution across the length and breadth of the South East and we will continue to do that . “The latest manifestation of this threat is the attempt to block the Onitsha end of Niger Bridge on 1st December, 2015, an action that caused major hardship to innocent and law abiding motorists, and citizens. The act also occasioned serious dislocation of business activities”, he said. The IGP equally dismissed reports of an attempted assassination of former President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday in Bayelsa State. According to him, a driver veered his car into the ex-President’s convoy but insisted that no harm was intended. He said: “From what I heard from the [State] Commissioner of Police, somebody veered into their [the ex-President’s] convoy but I don’t think it was intended to hurt him. We have crazy drivers all over the place; Nigerians don’t like obeying the law.”

A police officer came to his rescue just as he was being beaten by people.

The pictures obtained by Naij.com showed the youths carrying different banners, where they showed their displeasure with some corrupt Nigerians.
Their grouse, Naij.com gathered, is not unconnected to the recent revelations made by former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki and founder of DAAR Communications, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, over the N2billion arms deal scandal.
The angry youths also made coffins, where they buried corruption and bid it goodbye. The #BringBackOurGirls agitators were also present at the venue of the protest and expressed their displeasure over the continued detention of
the secondary school girls who were kidnapped over a year ago in Borno state.

Medical Student Pours Hot Water On Sister
A 32-year-old lady, Oluwafunke Arogbonlo, is in a critical condition at a specialist hospital in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, after her sister, identified as Yemisi, allegedly poured hot water on her.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the victim was asleep on Friday night at their house on Road 1, Federal Housing Estate, Mile 4, Port Harcourt, when the suspect allegedly sneaked into her room and emptied a bucket of hot water on her.
Our correspondent was told that the victim sustained burns from her neck region down to one of her feet.
It was learnt that Oluwafunke and Yemisi were stepsisters.
It was gathered that Oluwafunke’s mother separated from her daughter’s dad as soon as she was born, and she had lived with the father ever since.
He was said to have remarried a new wife, identified as Victoria, who gave birth to Yemisi and three other children.
Yemisi was said to be a student of Medicine at a university in Nassarawa State.
On September 2, PUNCH Metro learnt that there was a disagreement between Oluwafunke and her stepmother, Victoria, and during a struggle, the latter was alleged to have fallen to the ground and hit her head against the wall.
Our correspondent gathered that Victoria reported the incident to her children, including the suspect, who was then on the campus.
She was said to have returned Friday, December 4, and pretended as if all was well.
Oluwafunke, who spoke with PUNCH Metro from the hospital bed, explained that she never suspected anything after exchanging pleasantries with the suspect.
She said, “We greeted and I tried to explain to her that I did not touch her mother, that it was a misunderstanding and she wanted to hit me when I dodged and she fell. She told me not to bother about it, that it was gone and we should move on as sisters.
“I was asleep at night when she boiled water. She came into my room with a bucket of hot water and emptied it on me.
“I knew she was the one because immediately she did it, I opened my eyes and saw her. I was in pain.”
Our correspondent was told that the victim sustained burns to her neck, breasts, buttocks, chest and back.
The suspect reportedly took the victim to a private hospital the following morning.
Her mother, who lives in Lagos and pleaded not to be named, said she was alerted to the incident on Monday.
She said her ex-husband later moved Oluwafunke from the hospital to a specialist hospital for proper treatment.
She said, “I flew in on Monday night and immediately the plane touched down, I came right to the hospital. She has been in pain ever since the incident and although I learnt the matter had been reported at the police station, the police did not act until I got here and Funke’s friends went to make the report again.
“The police had to come to the hospital to take down her statement.”
She said the matter was reported at the Ada-George Police Station.
The suspect’s mother, Victoria, when contacted, said she could not speak to our correspondent on the matter.
She said, “If Funke’s people are saying she did not beat me up, then I cannot say anything. When they have told you the truth about what happened, then you can let me know. I am not going to say more than that.”
A Lagos lawyer, Spurgeon Ataene, condemned the act, urging the police to do their job.
He said, “A family feud does not give anybody the licence to pour hot water on the offending party. It is a barbaric act that should be condemned. The police should take this matter up and make sure justice is served.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, Rivers State, Ahmad Muhammad, said he does not confirm such incidents to the press.
“I am sorry, I cannot confirm or comment on it. I have been on leave and I just resumed. Aside that, I cannot say anything on the matter and I cannot confirm anything to you,”

Keshi who is currently in the USA told Completesportsnigeria.com that his late wife has been ill for a while before giving up the ghost on Wednesday.
"She was ill for a while now and I'm still in shock of this great loss," Keshi told Completesportsnigeria.com.
The former Togo and Mali boss who in March gave out his daughter, Ifeyinwa, extolled the virtues of his late wife sobbing in a chat with Completesportsnigeria.com.
"She is more like a sister to me and was the rock behind me and everything I do. My love for her was at first sight," he said.
He however revealed that the burial arrangements will be made public in the coming weeks.

The Nigerian Army says fleeing Boko Haram terrorists attempting to escape from military onslaught in Sambisa forest, through Pulka were intercepted and decisively dealt with by troops in blocking position in the area. A statement by the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman said many of the terrorists were killed while one was captured alive during the encounter.
Arms recovered from the insurgents include: a General Purpose Machine Gun, several rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunitions, 47 rifle magazines, 36 hand grenades and quite a number of Shilka gun empty shells. The statement added that troops also dealt another decisive blow to the Boko Haram terrorists at Buni Yadi area. A Toyota Hilux, 2 boxes of 7.62mm ammunitions and some Improvised Explosive making Devices cords, Usman said were recovered during the encounter.

OAU stops automatic employment for First Class graduates
The Vice Chancellor, Obafemi Awowolo University, Ile Ife, Prof. Bamitale Omole, yesterday said the
university would no longer offer automatic employment to graduates who make First Class
degree. Omole was addressing journalists in Ile Ife at a news conference to mark the 41st convocation ceremony of the institution.
He said graduates who make First Class should forget about automatic employment as there is
no more vacancy as a result of the current economic situation in the country. He noted that the idea of giving automatic employment to First Class graduates by the university was designed in the 1980s to retain them because they were not always willing to remain in the academics.
"The truth is that our First Class graduates should forget about automatic employment considering
the dwindling resources and given the large number of students who obtain first class grade now. It is no longer possible for us to offer them
automatic employment," he said.

We Don’t Have Money To Complete Our Secretariat – PDP
The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party has declared that it no longer has money to complete its multi-billion naira new national secretariat.The new secretariat is located at the Central Business District, Abuja.
Our correspondent, who has been visiting the secretariat for some time, observed that contractors handling the project were only doing skeletal jobs at the site.
When our correspondent visited the site on Wednesday, there was no visible job being done there.
It was gathered that the project was billed to cost N11.5bn when it was awarded some years ago.
Once completed, the building will comprise 12 floors, including a parking space in two floors.
But the party said the hope of completing the secretariat lies on its ability to secure the services of a developer that would handle it, with an agreement on how it would recoup its money.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh, stated this in an exclusive interview with our correspondent in Abuja on Wednesday.
Metuh also debunked the rumour making the rounds that members of the National Working Committee of the party got a huge sum of money from the fund realised for its Presidential campaign early in the year.
He said, “During our sales of forms, we had planned to use substantial part of the money to complete the secretariat.
“We also had a fund-raising dinner where money was raised and we were told that about N21bn was raised and that some of it would be given to us for the completion of the secretariat but we didn’t see the money.”
It will be recalled that a former Minister of Information and the Chairman of the party’s Fund-raising Committee, Prof. Jerry Gana, had said the controversial N21.8bn donated to the party by individuals, the party’s serving governors and private consortium was not meant for the presidential campaign of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan alone.
He was responding to criticisms that trailed the donation, as majority of the then governors owed workers’ salaries of their states.
Beside, the money raised was beyond the amount stipulated in the Electoral Act for political parties to seek votes for their presidential candidates.
Gana had said, “This administration of the party under our able chairman resolved that we must complete this (new secretariat) project so that we can move in there, and so, part of the preparations for this year’s campaign is for us to raise funds and I had the honour of leading a very distinguished team of Nigerians to prepare for the fund raising.
“We raised about N21bn on that day. The purpose of this press conference is to say that right from the start, we were raising money for the pdp and the project of the party, the documents and letters said so, the speeches confirmed it and during the day of the fund raising, in my own speech and the speech of the Vice President who happens to be an architect, there was a specific focus on this building–that this is one project we want to complete.
“The Vice President, being an architect, gave graphic details of where we were on this project and how we desire to be. Therefore, the central aim of the fund-raising is to empower the party to complete this building and other projects.”
Metuh also told our correspondent that the money the national leadership of the party had kept aside to use for the secretariat from the amount generated from the sales of forms was spent.
He said that the NWC was asked to divert the amount to the campaign of its governorship candidates during the last elections.
He said that the directive came after the party had lost the Presidential election to the All Progressives Congress. Metuh said, “The one (money) we kept for the completion of the secretariat, after we lost the presidential election. We were directed to divert the funds to the campaign organisation (of our governorship candidates).
“So, we channelled it directly to our governorship candidates across the country in over 30 states and other candidates in the House of Assemblies.
“That really depleted the funds of the party and almost brought it to ground zero.
“As we speak, we don’t have funds for the completion of the new secretariat. The acting chairman of the NWC would take the issue to the national caucus to know how we can engage the services of developers on some arrangements.”

It was learnt that the driver was driving against the traffic when the accident happen. The driver was taken to a near by hospital while officials of road safety cleared the car from the road.
